I live in the desert southwest US (zone 8b) and we just had a very bad storm blow through. I have two palms that look like they're dying. I realize that very cold weather is bad for palms. My question is, they've started turning brown and drooping and is there anything I can do to nurse them back to health? One of them was sickly looking even before the blizzard like storm. That one is in its second year of establishment. The previously healthy one has been in my front yard for at least 5 years. Another question is how often to water them in the winter? The average temperature here during winter so far has been in the 50's. Do palms prefer deep infrequent watering or more frequent light watering? I guess my priority for now is trying to save them first and then figuring out how to keep them healthy. Any help is much appreciated!!!
