my Palm Pixi wont do a partial erase?

recently i installed an app on my pixi called USB passthrough, it didnt really work how i wanted it to so i deleted it, but somehow it screwed up how PC's recognize the phone.instead of recognizing it as a pixi like it used to, it recognizes it as an ethernet gadget, and a generic serial. so now i think a partial erase might fix it. so i go to the device info, reset options, and erase apps and data, but then when i hit the button, and confirm it, the bottom bar comes up and says "Erasing" as it should, and the device info window greys out, but then nothing else happens... all my apps are still there and nothing has changed. i restarted my phone too, still nothing
