my oscar fish just died :( what should i get over him?

his name was Ziggy, he died from a disease called hole in the head wich it very common with oscars :(. i am looking to buy a couple new fish , since with the oscar fish you could only have one in the tank, for it will eat any other fish. my other oscar, t-bone, also died because of hole in the head. its very common. i either want one big very cool fish in my tank, or a couple very pretty fish that vary. wwhich fish go good together, and are very interesting??? thankyou :D
oh also , only fresh water fish please :)
