My new tmobile sidekick doesn't alert me when i receive messages and doesn't

I Got a sidekick in November and It did that for me too. After awhile mine just got messed up. The paint was coming off and it would shut off automatically for no reason. I ended up getting a new phone in December! I got a AT&T Pantech Matrix C740 and its a really good phones especially for texters because its a dual slider it's kind of think but other than that its a really good phone so i recommend that if your sidekick starts doing that.
