my new leopard gecko just ate two crickets today, is this normal?

Hello, i just got last week my new leopard gecko, he is a year old, and he had been eating 5 big crickets every 2 days (that is what the guy who sold him to me told me to give him, i offer more but he just eats 5), but today he just ate 2 :( ..... is this normal? Should i feed him tomorrow? i just want my little guy to be happy.

Also at what time is the best time to feed him? i have been doing it at dusk.
