My motorola SB5120 modem ethernet connection is not working?

Ok. I currently bought a router. My modem used to be connected to my pc via usb cable. When I connect it via ethernet cable the "limited connectivity or no connectivity" message shows up. The orange light in my modem is constant, which means that there is pc connectivity. I tried updating ethernet driver and no cigar.
