My motorcycle insurance is way too high for a non-racing sport bike. Isn't it?

I own a 2008 Suzuki GSX650F (the Bandit with fairing) and tried to get reasonably priced quotes from numerous insurance companies. But I kept hearing $2000+ annual premium dues for full coverage.
The bike is not a racing bike, but it is a newly-released model, so I'm thinking the insurance companies don't know how to classify it.
In fact, when I called Progressive, they didn't even have the model # on file. But when I called State Farm, they said I can get full coverage for a year for $350... If the motorcycle is my only means of transportation. Which it is not.

How much should insurance be, in zip code 28303-28314, for a bike that is a sport-standard, definitely non-racing, motorcycle?

make calls get quotes-it may be above industry standard, but that's a go-fast toy, so it is a higher risk, and you're male, so you're a higher risk, so, call your local Nationwide /Allied, too, for their REV&RIDE program-supposed to be very competitive.
