My mother is EXACTLY like her mother. I know, because they both treat me in the same manner, with great condescension. They both excel at it.
My mother always complains that my grandmother never does this or never does that.I. Of course, my mother does the exact same thing to my sister and I. We actually don't usually complain about it but my mother is quite vocal in her complaint and repeats them with regularity. Even when we point out glaring similarities, she says "it doesn't matter bc I'm fun and Grandma isn't." Not true, they are both harpies.
So why can't she see the similarities between her behavior and my grandmother's?
