My mom says it is bad to go to the gym when I am getting sick, why?

Today I got a sore throat, some coughing, and headache a little, but I think I want to go to gym, but mom doesnt want me to go. What is wrong with working out when you are just getting sick? She says sweating will make me feel dizzy and get headaches or something.

I have a temperature now, should I not go to gym today or this week? I haven't missed a day of gym for 4 months straight, and I dont want to mess it up until next week( which was when I wanted to take a week off)
 
Don't go. Your body needs to rest now, it doesn't need to be made tired. Not only that but you could be contagious and it would be irresponsible for you to go to a place like the gym.
