My mom just put texting on my Verizon Wireless phone....?

My mom just put texting on my Verizon Wireless Cellphone.
Yet when I attempt to send a text to anyone it still says "Delivery Failed: Service not Available"
Just like it did when I didn't have texting.
This is the type of phone I have.
