Hi everyone. My mother has been suffering from alcoholism for almost 20 years. She has been sober for about 5 years now. All of a sudden I started finding bottles of vanilla extract all around my house. I found out that she had been drinking it. I sat her down and talked to her about it, and she told me that she didn't realize what she was doing and she didn't realize the effect it would have. She told me that she would stop right away. I know she is still doing it and I have found more and more bottles of vanilla around the house recently. Could someone tell me WHY she is doing this? Does it count as relapsing? Could she be addicted? What long term effects will it have on her? How can I get her to stop? Is there even a rehab for this type of thing? Someone please if you know anything about this, answer my question. I am really worried and I don't know what to do about it anymore. And also, if she is drinking vanilla to get drunk, why isn't she just going to the liquor store and buying a bottle of vodka instead? I don't understand it at all. Someone PLEASE PLEASE help me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
