It's a 91 5-speed manual. It happens in first and reverse (starting from a dead stop). The car will start jerking like it wants to stall if i don't really rev the motor and pop the clutch. If I can't 'punch it' it will get stuck in gear and stall anyways. I cannot shift into neutral while this happens, even though I have the clutch pedal pushed to the floor. I have to let the car stall before I can move off the clutch. I have to shift into neutral, move my foot off the clutch, shift BACK into gear, (much like double-shifting?) and only then can I restart the car. Sometimes I have to go through this process more than once before I can get moving and shift to second. It just started doing this within the past week, and today it happened for the first time in a busy intersection in rush hour traffic. SCARY!! Sometimes I can't make a "jackrabbit" start (which isn't my style anyway) because there are things I'd rather not hit- other cars, support pillars, fire hydrants, speed bumps, children, and the like. I'm sure you understand. Ideas, anyone??
