2001 mazda protege, when i turn it on it sounds like its reving up on its own and i'm not even touching the gas, shakes like crazy when i'm at a stop light and the muffler has that sputtering sound coming from it. also had my brakes done about 3 months ago and yesterday tried stopping to make a turn, i mean i was pressing the brake all the way down and the car kept going , it felt like i was slipping on ice, i'm taking the car in for service on monday, but wanted some opinoins and advice, so that they dont try to tell me different.

thats the best thing you can do, go for service and sorry but i can tell you what could be because it could be a lot of things

the only way to know what is the problem it having the car and peform some test

the only thing i can tell you about the braking is
the brakes when you hit it they are going down but it brakes and you will have to pump the brakes but like 95% of the womens thinks "as long as it brakes... well we can continue pumping the brake" ...... wrong...... that means you have a brake fluid leak and what you have on the last time when the pedal goes all the way down means it dont have any more fluid left

for the rev thing only a scanner and knowledge will fix that

If you have a local Auto Zone you can take it there and they will hook this sensor thing up to your car and tell you a few different things that could be wrong with the car, that way you would have a general idea of what is wrong and it will help narrow it down for you. They do it for free.

Hope I helped.

If it is pullsating like reving up and down it might have a vacum leak somewhere thats what was wrong with my 89 rx7 turbo2 and it would pulsate by itself and had a really rough idle
