I was on my way to work when I noticed my car starting to slow down. I pressed the gas, and it wouldn't accerlerate. Then all of a sudden, it died on me ( it kinda made a pop and sizzle sound??) and white smoke started coming from under the hood. I opened the hood, and the smoke was coming from the engine. I gave it a few mins to cool off, but the engine wouldn't start. It just made a weird sound if i tried to start it. Could this either be a new motor, a head gasket, or what?? I have no clue and iff anyone could help me, I would really appreciate it.

in this case id say maybe a head gasket but in all likelyhood you need the head resufaced or just get a new motor it all depends on budget and or availability of replacement motor
for eks if its a 2.2 liter ecotech type motor found in cavaliers saturns and pontiac sunfires amongst others i pick them up for 600 to 800 with less than 70 or so thousand miles on them and it takes me almost a full day to do it ( but i chain smoke and sit on my butt a bit )
