My LG Rumor screen is stuck black it will turn off and on but wotn show anything.?

My phone will charge and turn off and on but it wont show anything it just stays black all day.
I dont have spare money to fix it and it isnt acctivated but i would like to upgrade back to my Rumor.
Some where it said to get a torx screw and take the backing off then push the white cord it until it is "seated". Will that work?
