My laptop sound stopped working after plugging in headphones. Not even the

headset works now.? This is really frustrating because I listen to A LOT of music and go to Youtube a lot so now that I can't videos....Im really despirate to make this work.
When I go to manage sound devices it shows the sound meter moving up and down to prove that they seem to work but just aren't letting out sound.
ThankYou Micheal if I was a lvl 2 to give you heads up.
 
Have you checked if your headset's external volume adjuster is on or set to high?

Don't want to offend you or imply anything, but most of the clients who have called us regarding this kind of problem were solved because we found out that they neglected to turn on the headset's external volume switch.
 
Try to close the application you're trying to listen to, then reopen it. Also right click on your speaker icon down by your clock and make sure that under "recording options" your headphones are set as the default.
