my kx80 2 stroke dirt bike wont start?

my kx 80 will start sometimes with starting fluid sprayed in the spark plug hole... but sometimes it will die. that is the only way it will sometimes start. usually it wont tho. the carburetor is clean. the piston rings are good. the spark plug is good. it gets fire. what else could be keeping it from running. please help. thank you
