My bearded dragon is about 6 months old and rarely eats crickets in a pattern. Some days, he'll eat 11 and other days he'll eat just 2.
Recently, he hasn't been eating any crickets at all. sometimes in the morning, he'll eat a few but then in the afternoon he won't even look at the ones we put in his cage.
Is this due to the change of season? since it's getting colder outside.
I've been feeding him about 4 mealworms a day on the days that he won't eat crickets. I know this is bad for him, but i don't want him starving. He seems to gobble up the mealworms quickly.
Our cage is at about 80 F and we use infrared heat and a heating mat on the basking side.
We've scheduled a visit to the vet next week.
What other kinds of food can I feed my dragon in replacement of crickets for the time being?
Also, what might have caused his lack of interest in crickets?
I'm a bit worried....
