My Jeep Wrangler front shakes, what would cause this?

about 4 months ago I had my tires rotated and it alined because my jeep would shake when I would go over 50 mph, at that time the problem was fixed. For about a month I have noticed that every time I hit a bump going 50- 55 mph the front end will shake so bad that it feels like the tires are going to fall off, when this happens I slow right down and it stops for awhile, and it may not happen again for a few days or over a week. What would cause this and is it expensive to fix. I have not taken it to a garage yet because I don't have the money.
It is a 2007 jeep wrangler 4 door with about 40,000 miles on it

Probably a case of death wobble. Shouldn't be a big fix. But there are many things that could cause this and could be hard to diagnose.

This question has come up before on Jeeps on CarTalk, the public radio call in show with Click and Clack. Their response was that the jeep suspension is largely unchanged since its original design in the 1940s. They went on to say that there has been added a stabilizer bar to reduce the problem you are having and the stabilizer bar or its mountings may need replacement. I am an old guy and I remember growing up in the late 50s when many cars behaved exactly as you described after they got around 40,000 miles on them. Thankfully most manufacturers have dramatically improved their design. There are actually a number of Jeep fanatics that like them just the way they are, poor suspension and all. Have a Jeep dealer look at it and give you an estimate to make it better. Maybe the price won't be horrible and it is dangerous as is as until you get it slowed down, you have very little control over the vehicle. Good luck.

That happens with Heeps sometimes. Many of them came with a steering dampener to try and remedy the issue. Look under the front and see if it has a horizontally mounted shock absorber on the steering linkage in the front center. If it does, you probably just need that replaced.
