my jeep works i got battery power but it wont start i hit the starter and it comes on i

can drive maybe one ? or 2 times before hitting the starter again i replaced my started last winter it was a used one however and its winter where i am my friend said when its wintertime the starter the thing inside is tight together so you gotta hit it to make them move inside so do you think its the starter
