My Jeep won't start ?

Ok I have an 05 jeep liberty. and recently the emergency lights went off when I than turned them off and attempted to start the car the engine icon came on along with the oil icon. Now before I waste money having to tow it to dealership than finding out its just an oil change or transmission fluid needed; Has anyone have an idea of what this is can I fix it? the car lights turn on so I do know its not a battery issue just when starting the car it makes a funny sound and those lights come on. Please provide some advice if you've had this issue or a similar one thanks.
 
Walk us through the exact process, from key insertion to car start. Describe what lights come on when, what the "funny sound" actually sounds like, etc.
 
Head lights coming on, does not mean battery has enough cranking power to start engine. Your info is a little vague, but it sounds like the starter motor is clicking in and out when you turn the key (makes a click, click noise). This means battery is in poor condition.
Try charging, changing or replacing battery
