If it just died or shut off and turns over when you try to restart the vehicle, it could be the fuel pump. Try hitting the bottom of the gas tank while someone else cranks the motor over trying to start the motor. If it starts, take it right to a repair shop without turning the motor off and get the fuel pump replaced.
If the battery is dead you have charging system problems.
