My javascript class without html.?

ok i am taking a javascript class and i tryed to do the home work and was completely lost i look at the begining of my book it said you need to have a good understanding of html but when i signed up for the class there was no pre requirment class for it so wat do i do
ok so wat should i do drop the class and take html class then retake javascript class ?
