My iPod will not let let my music to play?

So I have an iPod touch first generation. Everything works except that when I got to my music it will come up with like all my songs but then when I press one it will close down my music and go to the home screen. Then I tried to switch to albums and it let's me but then when I try to go to a specific album and closes down. How can I fix it??
