Hello, everyone. I wanted to give everyone a quick introduction of myself. I am a 29 year old female, mother, and wife. I have Degenerative Disc Disease (causing several severe spinal abnormalities), a heart condition, severe Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (had right Carpal Tunnel Release on June 10, 2008 and am awaiting the left Carpal Tunnel Release surgery), and a possible auto-immune disease. I was diagnosed with lurabar DDD in May of 2007 with my first and only MRI performed. The doctor at the time only requested a lurabar MRI. On Monday, I will have a MRI done on my cervical spine for the first time because of severe neck pain and occipital headaches, not to mention the fact that my right arm is starting to go nurab!

I hope to get to know everyone better and am thankful for the chance to experience health boarRAB, again!

Sincerely, Tam

HI Tam,
I'm new here to. I'm sorry to hear about your pain.

2 yearsb ago I had a CAT done only on my lower back which showed spinal stenosis and 4 bulging discs. The neuro thought that the neuropathy in my left leg and face was due to an excess of vitamin B6 in my system. I stopped taking my daily vitamin hoping it would get better. Not.....it's gotten far worse.

I have severe pain around (not in) all my joints and have been diagnosed with degenerative disc disease, carpel tunnel, tennis elbow, bursitis in the shoulders, plantar faciitis, restless leg syndrome and now severe painful neuropathy (Burning, pricks and needle & chills sensations) throughout my body along with starting to lose function in my left leg. My insurance changed from an HMO to a PPO. My new dr. thinks all of these individual dx's have an underlying condition.....duhhh! Sorry, it's just that I've thought that for 2 years. I'm lucky my insurance changed forcing me to find a new doc. He listens and has ordered an MRI of the entire back & brain, suspecting Cervical Stenosis as well as the lurabar stenosis. Part of me hopes this is the answer so we'll know what options I have. The other part hopes that it's something far less serious even if it's hard to find.

I'm seeing a PT who is having trouble getting the knots and tighteness out of my back and neck though it has helped tremendously with movement and some with the muscle pain. He has suggested Fibromyalgia.

There seems to be so many causes of all these symptoms.....It's so confusing and I get really scared when my symptoms flare up and get worse. Just knowing what is causing all of this would be such a relief. Then I can get rid of the cause or at least start working with it correctly ;o)

Good luck. I hope to hear positive news from you very soon!

Thank you for the warm welcome, Lauren. I am sorry to hear about the current condition you are in medically. I hope that you will soon find the answers to the problems that you have been enduring. I, too, hope to find out answers after my MRI on Monday. I am also looking forward to my next surgery, which is left Carpal Tunnel Release. I hope the physical therapy starts working well for you. I unfortunately had to discontinue physical therapy because it was worsening my condition. The doctor also advised me to not go to a chiropractor either, although I know that both physical therapy and going to a chiropractor helps some patients immensely. I also had to medically withdraw from my college courses but hope to someday continue my education. I will be sure to keep everyone updated about my upcoming appointments and my condition. Thanks, again!

Sincerely, Tam

This post is not going to be very helpful to either of you personally, but I have noticed over the last 2 months, or so, there are a nuraber of you that seem to have systemic type of issues that are affecting your backs, legs, etc....symptoms likeyou both describe...and no one has been able to get a meaningful diagnosis. :( You need to all get together and see what you share in common and where there are differences. Maybe you can collectively figure out what your docs are missing.

Has anyone tried a homeopathic doctor?

Welcome to the board. I'm glad you found one another. Also look for posts by Momofboyz--I that she has some systemic-sounding issues, too. Be sure to read through older posts. That is a very good way to learn, too.

Hi Tam,
I'm Meghan, 39 and a wife and mom with DDD in both lurabar & cervical, CT in both wrists, and autoimmune issues, too. Curious similarities. I'm sorry you are dealing with so much -and a whole decade before me even, plus your heart condition. I'm truly sorry that you have so much to work with. I hope that you find a wealth of information to aid you on this board and any support that you seek as well. I'm here for any help I can offer. I'm new to my DDD diagnoses, but am always willing to share anything I can that may help.
Take care,
Meghan

Thanks again for the replies! I will be sure to post all the information I receive from my doctors so that we can all compare notes. I believe that everyone is here for a reason and could all benefit from each others posts.

God bless everyone,
Tam

P.S.-I apologize if I mistakenly took someone's user name, if that's possible!
