My internet on my imac has stopped working for MSN and software update?

My internet still works with any browser but it just doesnt seem to work with anything else, softare update tells me :
The file “index-leopard.merged-1.sucatalog” couldn’t be found on the server “swscan.apple.com”.
any ideas?
