My IM App got changed... help!

My Pearl is AT&T branded, but I got it unlocked and am using it happily on T-mo.

I have used the IM app in the past with AIM and Yahoo!... no problem. Today, I went to sign-on to AIM, and couldn't find the app. On my theme, it was an icon with a large "IM" bubble in it. Now, that icon is gone, and there is a globe icon with the label "Instant Messaging."

OK, thought I, something just changed the icon. But Noooooooo!

When I launch the app, I get the BlackBerry logo (like on the BB browser), then the message, "This application is only for the T-Mobile BlackBerry Pearl 8100. The device you are using is not supported."

Any ideas on how to go about diagnosing this and getting my IM back?

v4.2.1.96 (Platform 2.3.0.78)

Thanks.

Have you deleted the vendor.xml file? Should be in this path C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader , if that does not work i would try to upgrade to the TMO 4.2.1.107 OS and see if that gets you back to good.

It would appear that they changed a service book that may not jive well with your OS. Your best bet would be to try and upgrade to the current Tmobile OS 4.2.1.107

MORE: I guess this is a problem with the OZ instant messaging client. My error message above sorta looked like a web page, so I used the menu button to display the URL. The URL is http://quito.thumbspeed.com/8100/unknowndevice.html and sure enough, that is where my error message is coming from.

I'll just throw in my opinion and say go for JiveTalk. It's way better than the OZ IM. Uses data instead of SMS. And well worth the price. And there's a 30 day free trial.

try calling a CS rep...the icon disappears sometimes and they can usually get it back for you...has happened to my wife's phone and she's done nothing to it

Call T-mobile and ask for "transfer me to Blackberry Support please", it should always be the first thing that comes out of your mouth after they ask for your account information.
