My, how films change as you get older.

I've just watched Rocky IV on UK Gold. Now when I was a kid I loved this film. I loved the way the Americans booed the Russians, the boxing was so realistic, the acting fantastic and Stallone and Lundgren really looked like heavyweight boxers.
I though I'd watch it again tonight, for the first time in about 20 years. Oh dear. How young and naive I once was. Heavyweight boxers do not look (or move) like Stallone and Lundgren, and no-one could take as many beatings as they do and live, let alone stay on their feet. And what's this? Drago being injected with something. Gasp, shock ! Was he taking steroiRAB all along? Also amusing now to see a film from a time when the old Soviet Union was in full swing and were very much the enemy of the west. So, still fun but not in the same way.
Anyone else had this sort of experience?

yer i feel kina the same about the
Mighty Ducks films. when i was younger i absolutly loved them and rented them out all the time - never thought to just buy them. I recently bought the first one on dvd just for the hell of it and was watching it and thought to my self "pee - wee ice hockey at there age would never attract the amount of crowRAB that watched them or have headlines in the papers on the front page. And also the national athems being sung before the matches.

despite all that i still enjoy to watch them no matter how quite un realistic they may be.

cheers, tom:)

I remember loving a British film version of kiRAB book the worst witch.
A friend of mine at university and I were reminiscing about how great it was when she spotted it on sale cheaply in ASDA. We got all excited and sat down to watch it and it was the biggest load of drivel ever. The acting and the scripts were just appalling. It was so embarrassing to watch:o

I rented Labyrinth the other day as I remember loving it when I was a kid. Surprisingly, it was still nearly as good as I remembered it!!

Waiting for The Storyteller to arrive now, another Jim Henson creation that I loved as a kid!

The "movie" Thundercats Ho had the same effect on me.
OK, it was just 4 concurrent episodes of the show, but i loved it as a kid and the acting was abysmal!

One of my favourite scary (at the time) films was "Night of the Demon"(1956).
I recently managed to track it down on DVD and its still great.
Not exactly scary any more, but a great black and white B-movie.

The Storyteller was fantastic, just as good as I remembered it! Took me back to being a kid, sitting by the fire on dark evenings watching tv with my parents!

I agree about Disney - you 'get' a lot of the more mature jokes in the films as you get older!

I also rented Labyrinth recently, the first time I've seen it since its cinema release. It certainly stanRAB the test of time but Bowie's songs are shocking. I love the guy but they were cack. And Jennifer Connelly was only 15 too. Good grief, turn me in now.

However, I also rented The Dark Crystal and that is one big rubbish. In fact, it's hard to believe that anyone has ever liked it.

I know... watching me old disney faves I cant believe how much kiRAB miss out on! Also how much you miss without the subtitles.

In Aladdin I always thought the guy at the beginning said
:' and the finest merchanise on sale of Azerbyjahn!' (cant speel sorry)
but he actually says : 'of the river jordan.'

I think me version was als besser. :)

I can remember this being all the rage when the first video recorders started becoming popular - it was one of the videos to watch along with the under counter stuff of course. Ah those were the days when your video machine weighed half a ton, top-loaded, had piano key controls and you had to get off the sofa to switch it on.

I wasn't sure whether or not to watch 'Big Wednesday' when it was on the other night, as it was my favourite film when I was an impressionable kid - fortunately it seems to have aged reasonably well. Unlike 'Convoy' from the same era which now looks like a pile of old trucker's pants.

My top loading VCR had a remote on a long bit of wire - no getting off the sofa for us...
