but it's been running hot? Plus it's a little hard to kick start and tough to get into neutral. Any ideas?

It's a 1978 Honda CB400.
I was told that 10w-40 would be better because it's getting warm out (70 degrees yesterday). So I added 10w-40, but still rough.
 
running hot needs card ajusting hard to start need new plugs or carbs adjusting hard to shift adjust clutch or check trans fluid best if you want to ride it is to get a repair manual so you know what to do type
