My heater goes nuts on a 95 Chrysler Concorde?

Occasionally, the heater will get a mind of its own. The temperature will go to maximum. The fan will go at full speed, and the display screen will blank out. So far I either open the windows until it is intolerable, then I will pull the fuse for the blower. Can anyone tell me what is wrong and how to fix it?
