my heartbeats headphones won't work on my nokia x6!?

I just got my new heartbeats headset control talk that I was waiting for for 4 days. I plugged them into my Nokia X6, but I can't hear the voices very good and I keep hearing static noises. not what I had imagined at all sadly. But when I keep the button in the middle pushed on the heartbeats it works perfectly fine. So it could be that it's caused by the phone, PLEASE HELP
