...wont work for one-fourth jacks!? I am using a Plantronics headset that I bought about a year or two ago. It has worked great for the entire time I have owned it, been through a couple computers, not a problem yet...
However, recently I built a new computer and bought Tapco S-8's and Tapco Link.Firewire. I went a while without trying to use the headset, and this evening I decided I wanted to play some counterstrike. The link.firewire has 1/4th TRS/XLR combo ports on the back as inputs and a 1/4th TRS for the headphone jack on the front.
The headphone jack works no sweat. Put in the adapter jack and plugged it in; bingo, good quality sound. However, I attempted to do the same with my microphone plug, and whaddayaknow... it doesn't work!
I tried a mono headphone jack to 1/4th TS mono and that worked only slightly. In audacity when I was testing it, my voice was only audible when the input volume was all the way up and the signal was boosted. This produced a staticy and useless signal and would be unusable in games. So I decided to use a stereo headphone jack to 1/4th TRS stereo adapter this time. However, this produced no sound at all; not a single decibel.
At this point, I am dumbfounded. I have run out of ideas for adapters and whatnot to make this work and would really like to make this work properly. If anyone knows what might be wrong, please help me out.
