My Headset doesnt work in Computer?

Whenever i plug my headset either front of my Tower or at the back it doesn't work. I've checked my sound card settings. Realtek settings are fine,Moreover whenever i plug my speakers to it and tries to play a song it comes as Karaoke in Windows Media Player. Please suggest whats wrong with my Headset or Tower?
 
your computers default settings are wacked. youll have to go into your control paneol and reset your audio settings to default. retry. if not then your tower is messed up, your head-set is fine.check to make sure headset shows up under (new) software.

well if you built it yourself maybe you messed up when connecting the front to the mobo because i cant use my front ports at all caused i plugged them in wrong and im to lazy to go switch it.

also go into your audio setup and make sure that your COMPUTER is connecting to you headset. i know when i switch out real fast between my headset and my speakers i cant hear it in my headset/speakers so i have to make sure that the comp knows what plugged in :)
