My HD West Channels are Missing

I noticed last night that the HD channels from the West - e.g ABC, CBS, NBC and PBS - were missing from my guide (I have a 9242). I did a "Check Switch" to see if that would remedy the problem but they are still missing in action. Strange, since they were there last week for sure - recorded a show on ABC west HD.

Anyone else have a similar problem? Just wondering before I have to call the wonderful folks at BEV tech assistance.

I have a 9200 but in any case all US West HD channels were accessible to me last night.

go to your lock channels and make sure you don't have them locked and hid...maybe someone was messing around in your locks...

Well, I spoke to BEV tech support tonight and I am told that as a legacy subscriber, since May 2002, they have decided to pull the West channels - which apparently I have been receiving for years now in error. However, if I wanted to upgrade to the new platform for only $10 to $15 dollars more a month, I could have the west channels back plus a few other HD channels that haven't been added as they have come on stream.

I told the guy that I had been paying an extra $1.00 for timeshifting for years, I remember ordering it since it was so cheap. He said they had no record of that - despite me receiving those west channels for years!

This is ridiculous. I can understand not receiving new added channels as a legacy customer, but to start removing service and charging the same price is wrong. I will now have to check my records going back a number of years to see what I was being charged for and then call those yo-yo's back tomorrow.

What a pain in the ass!

Called BEV again and spoke to another tech. After suffering through a long list of "tests", he re-activated the west channels.

And, Voila, they are back.

If at first you don't succeed, try, try again!

Pretty slimy maneuver to get your to pay the new costs. Glad you got it sorted out!

I just logged into my account to check my line-up and the Time Shifting package is not selected either! I know for a fact that I signed up for that and I have had it for over 2 years. In case mine disappear is there any tips you can give us to cut through their BS and get the channels re-added quickly?

Strangely enough my online bills to do indicate whether I was paying for this or not. Hopefully I still have a contract with which channels I subscribed for originally.

When I looked at my old bill, the time shifting didn't appear either. Just guessing, but maybe it was rolled up into the Ultimate 9 package that I have had since the beginning. I can't remember specifically, but I do know that I requested timeshifting be included in my service. And it was!

My best advice, if your service as you have been paying for gets summarily cut off and the first BEV person you talk to won't help, is to call back and speak to another. It's amazing the different level of service from one customer service rep to another including what they are ready to do for you.

Spinner,
I am new to BEV as of today and went with the 9242 and I am missing the West HD channels as well. I do have the SD time shift though. Is the SD and HD time shift supposed to be different? I thought when you got time shift, you got it all? I signed up for the HD Essentials Value package.

Quoting the new brochure from Show magazine, under "HD Theme Packs":

Time Shifting on U.S. HD networks FREE with the purchase of 4 or more HD them packs or available as add-on.

So yes, it appears HD time shift is different.

All clients having the HD package (i'm talking about the grandfather version at 10$) are getting BOTH the East AND West feed in HD REGARDLESS of whether or not they suscribe to the US network (the 1$). If the also want to get both feeds in SD, THEN they have to pay the 1$ a month.

I no longer have the SD timeshift channels. I did have those channels as well initially, starting in 2002. As noted in previous post, I had requested the timeshift option. It seems I was never charged a discrete extra fee of $1 though.

In any event, about 1 year ago or so as I recall, those SD west channels disappeared from my programming. I was not particularly alarmed since I had read about that change on these forums ahead of time but mostly because the HD timeshift/west channels remained!

Currently, if you have the HD timeshift/west channels, I see no reason to pay extra for the crappy SD feeds.

Depends on the number (and type) of TVs and receivers you have :)

I keep the SD timeshift channels as I have 7 SD receivers. 95% of my SD PVR usage is on the west cost channels (mainly as backup), but this represents only about 5% of my TV viewing as the rest is in HD on my HDTV.

If I only had 1 TV and 1 receiver I certainly wouldn't bother paying either.

Well it only took 4 phone calls and level 2 tech support for them to tell me that they had signed me up for a french programming package which was why I wasn't getting the HD time shift and some of the standard digital channels as well. Missed most of the Flames game (glad I did!) getting it fixed but this morning everything looks ok.

It explains why you were not getting some channels of the Digital Standard in SD, but certainly doesn't explain the HD issue. I'm French and have a French base. I do not suscribe to timeshifting option and when had the HD pack I had BOTH the East AND West HD feed. I finially dropped the HD pack since i'm not watchin much English TV and the French channels are free if you have the corresponding SD theme.

Spinner, I too have the grandfathered package and lost my HD-EAST US networks a couple of weekends ago. They're critical for our viewing/recording.

So I thought that I was finally screwed and would have to upgrade my package which would cost me over $20 more per month. Since I'm on a legacy package I couldn't do that online and it said that I would have to call in. And since it was on a Saturday, their call center for programming changes was closed and said to call back on Monday morning.

Kind of ironic since it made me play around on their site. I found that "reactivate receiver" option (or whatever that is) on the web site, hit the button, and minutes later my US HD-east channels were back thankfully!!!

I too used to pay the extra $1 for the SD US timeshifts but they removed those channels and the $1 from me years ago. Since I still had the HD versions it wasn't a problem.

Anyway, in the end I got the channels back without having to get frustrated talking to a sales or technical call center. So I'm happy and riding on my legacy package a little while longer :)

I don't pay anything "specifically" for HD channels. My bill indicates:

Ultimate 9 (Savings of $32.50/month) .... $71.99.
Ultimate 9 (Savings of $32.50/month) .... -$4.98
System Charge .... $5.99

Sub-Total .... $73.00

Hope this is of assistance.
