My grandma had a wreck a few days ago. She slid off into a ditch. We pulled her out cuz they car seemed fine. Well... it isnt. She got in it today to leave and it wont go into gear and the engine is jumping like crazy. Can we still report this on her insurance or is she just out of luck cuz she didnt report it when it happened?

First off, I hope your grandmother is doing well.

Second, YES, she can report the claim. Insurance would like you to report the claim promptly but even up to a week or two you're still fine. The only ones that are sticklers are those $39.99 per month types.

If your grandmother is insured with even a halfway decent insurance company she should be fine.

Late reporting is more of an issue when there is injuries or lawsuits have been presented as it makes it harder to defend the case

Hope this helps

You can possibly still get insurance on it. Possibly depends on your insurance company. Try giving them a call!

One time I hit a friends car when pulling into the driveway...didn't report it to insurance until the next day, but they still covered both our cars and didn't even require a police report.

Just call them; the worst they can say is "no." As long as they don't end up covering it, just calling to ask isn't going to make her rates go up either, so just try.
