My girlfriends doesnt want to have sex yet?

I've been with my girlfriend for 4 months now and we already talked about having sex. I'm not in this relationship because i want to have sex with her. I really love and respect her. So she told me that she wants to wait till she"s 18. She also told me that she wnats to have it with the one guy she really loves, me, but I'm not sure if that's the reason why she wants to wait. Can anyone please tell me why she might want to wait.
 
Being a girl in a long term relationship (1 year and 5 months) I can relate to this myself. I told myself I would wait too, but that didn't happen because by 5 months I knew I was ready and that my boyfriend really did love me, and when it was time it just happened. I can't tell you why she's waiting, because every girl is different, but when she's ready it will just happen. most girls value their virginity and is something to be given carefully, judging by what you have said i would say this is how your girlfriend feels, and more than likely is just scared to loose it, and i can guarantee that even though sex is great, the first time hurts if the guy isn't careful, and even then it hurts a bit. So don't push her, when she's ready you'll know.
