I am dog sitting my GF's Maltese. I've owned BIG dogs (labs) but I have no idea what to do with this whiny little brat! She is really cute and sweet but she constantly wants attention. My gf babies this dog but the dog usually listens to her better then she listens to ME! My GF will be gone for another 3 days, keep in mind.
I walked her and fed her and held her but she still keeps whining every time I ignore her. She also goes crazy braking when I leave the house and treats don't seem to interest her. She also whines to sleep in the bed with me at night because she can't jump up on her own.
A big dog you can just yell "LAY DOWN!" and they get the hint. This one just whines and yaps when I tell her no! What can I do to make this dog quiet down without doing anything extreme? Keep in mind the dog weighs 5 lbs so physical punishment is not an option, obviously!
She is quiet when I pet her or when she's in my lap or the bed but I can't spend all day on the internet with a little girly mop-dog on my lap! Is there any way I can teach the dog to lay in her dog bed she never uses? Are there any good brands of dog treats that make little picky froufrou dogs shut up? Toys? Anything? I don't think Ii can take another three days of this!
