My G1 turns off when i put it in my pants pocket.

My G1 turns off everytime i place it in my pants pocket. Then to turn it back on, i have to take out the battery and put it back in, and then i press the power button and turns right on.

Has anyone had this same problem? If so please advise me of a solution.
Thank you

I have had this problem from time to time too - last time was just a few days back. Had to get back on the same way you did Domex.

Don't wear metallic pants and very much did lock the screen. It may be a heat thing.

LOL no i do not wear magnetic pants, and Yes i do lock the screen, and sometimes i don not lock, the screen it does by itself. No i do not think, the pants has something to do with it, but it just so happens to turn off when i place it in my pants pocket, and when i reach for it 10mins later, its turn off.

could it be that the device goes into deep hibernation or it overheats. I dont know lol but when i do carry it or place it on a counter, it never turns off.

that is so bizarre. multiple people are experiencing the phone turning off in their pants.

(like dixie, must resist jokes... too easy... )

I guess overheating could be a factor, but if the heat that the battery can put off on this thing is any indication of what it can with stand I just don't think that would be it.

are you overly active, out jumping and running around? Are your pants tight?

I'm sorry i just have a hard time correlating putting phone into pocket keeps turning it off. Especially if they aren't metallic or magnetic and you are locking the screen. I feel as if this is for the mythbusters!

lol No just walking or sitting it turns off. I have had it for a week now, since my brother brought it down to me here in Dominican republic, and now he has already left so i cannot return it.

Also i did a search on metallic pants...and hell naw i do not wear them. I was assuming you meant, the buttons on my jeans. I will just have to always carry in my hands till i get a holster for it.

Ya man, i need me a pair of kicks like those!

Anyway back on topic, do you have any programs that use the accelerometer to like change profile or anything like that?

The only program that i have, that changes profiles is "Power Manager"
if that's what you meant.

Update: i just uninstalled the "Power Manager" to see if that's the problem.

I was thinkin more along the lines of since the phone is upside down in ur pocket, a program was using the accelerometer to do summin which was causing it to shutdown.

I was gonna suggest uninstalling power manager next, tell me how that works out.

I had this exact problem. It's all about the battery.
Take your phone out and tap the back of the phone a few times.
If it turns off, I'm right. If not, read on anyway 'cause it can't hurt to try.
For some reason I came to the conclusion the battery was kinda loose.
I ripped a napkin and folded it and put it between the back case and battery.
It hasn't turned off in about a week, so you should give it a shot.

Let me know how it goes.

Finally it's not turning off any more!! I did a "Factory Restore" and i live in the Dominican Republic, so luckily i still have the T-mobile sim, for the activation process.

Then i only installedd Snapphoto, Aplayer, Notepad, Jet Pdf, it has been working just fine. My Brother, who sold me the phone had so many Apps, that i just could not figure out which one, could be causing the problem.

Thanks everyone for your advices.
