its a 1989 Toyota pickup, (the smallest one)

Its a 4 cyl. 2wd.

He just wants it a little higher off the ground, it feels like driving a car honestly. would it be worth the lifting? (only like 2")

and how much would that cost do-it-yourself VS garage done?

Downey, Fab Tech, TLR or any other brand upper control arm will lift it a few inches and they are easy enough to install.
If you want a basic cheap 2 inch lift, jack up the vehicle by the frame and crank the torsion bar bolt in as far as it will go on both sides. Change the upper control arm bump stop to a polyurethane low Profile bump stop. Get it aligned. That is a poor mans lift. I have done it to many Toyota trucks
DO NOT do a body lift. Toyotas are known to have the body mounts poke through the floor after a while.
