My foot

As I posted here last week, I broke my middle toe a little over a week ago (I was walking briskly and smacked my foot into a chair as I passed). My middle phalange is cracked, and I've had it buddy taped ever since. I can finally put my weight on my whole foot, but when I do, the ball of my foot and the top of my foot right above it feels very tight and sore, and the two toes that are taped don't touch the ground. I don't see any swelling, and the bruising is all gone except for a tiny one on my toe, but it's over a week later, so this concerns me. I did put ice on it last night for about 35 minutes, and it seems a little better today, but I still feel some of the tightness.
I guess since it's better after I iced it, it must be swollen, but it doesn't look swollen. Why is it still swollen after a week? Should I be worried and have it checked again?

Thanks!

Sprains and bruises should stop swelling after a few days, but broken bones can stay swollen for a long time.

It should be fully healed in 4-6 weeks. When I broke a pinky toe, it was a few days before I could walk comfortably, and about 4 weeks before it was completely free of bruising and no longer tender, but I was only 12 years old then, so it might take you a little longer.

It's probably a smart idea to keep icing it at least 1-2 times per day until the pain is gone.

Ok, thanks! The toe itself isn't swollen anymore, but my foot below my toe is... That's what I'm kind of confused about... because supposedly, none of the metatarsals were broken...
Is it the whole area around the broken bone that would still be swollen, so my foot still has some swelling?
