My fish's fins are gone...what do i do? :(?

I'm really scared.
I have three Shubunkin Goldfish, and they have always gotten along. In fact, I was only planning on getting one, but they never separated, so I took them all. When they first got here, they just stayed together huddled, they are really comfortable with each other. But today when I went to feed them, my white one's top fin was gone. Not completely, but the thinner part was, the fanning part, same with the fan part of the tail and bottom fins. The part with the most color close to the body, the cartilage or the bone (whatever it is) is still there and covered by scales. I don't know if the other two fish hurt her or if it came off another way. I'm really scared, I love my fish a lot. Please help me!
I was also wondering if you think my fish can live through this!?!??????
 
Did you cycle the tank first? It could be caused by ammonia burns.

Huddled? Like staying near the ground? The ammonia is probably affecting them if this is a new tank and you didnt cycle it for a month. Black and red blotches are signs of ammonia burn too.

Read up on cyclying and buy ammonia and nitrite test kits. I learned this the hard way with my two goldfish. Not to dicourage you but they both died even though I changed 20-50% of their water to relieve the ammonia levels.

Honestly, Id see if you can return the goldfish to the store, wait until the tank is done cycling, then buy goldfish. I heard something about throwing a frozen shrimp in the tank to start the cycling process but Im not sure.

It could be fin rot, add a medicine such myxazin formula to the tank, and if this isnt the cause of the fin dropping off, then adding this will stop it from getting infected, and help it grow back.
Use the instructions on the bottle though.

one fish probably ate em but if u got any objects in the tank probably it got its fin caught ask a vet or look it up on the internet

this is not good, you should isolate this fish from the others or it will die. this happened to my angel fish and once i isolated it in another tank the fins grew back and now its fine. this could also be from stress. you should make sure the pH is right in your water and that your tank has ben cycled.
 
Did you use tap water? If so you need to put in water conditioner. And you go to your local pet store and by Melafix it aids in the healing of fin rot.
 
How big of a tank/bowl are they in? In the store they may have been the best of buds b/c they had space and there was no Competition. Now, if they are cramped they may be fighting. Even the best behaved fish can turn nasty when it's life or death.
I would isolate him immediately as it may be a disease as well. Take him out to allow him to heal and watch the others. If he continues to deteriorate it's most likely fin rot. Gets Meds fast. Watch the others as well as this is highly contagiouse.
Adding aquarium salt is a good way to go as this will help make the water less hospitable to bacteria, viruses, fungus and parasites. Not only will it help stop the spread frofish to fish, it will also help the fish feel better. It's a good immune system booster. And if it's not a disease, still add it. These are like open wounds and can be prone to getting an infection even if it was a tear in the first place.
There is no substitute for clean water, try changing it as often as possible for the sick fish. Often this alone is enough to perk them up and fight off the disease.
