ok my severum just noticed the fire mouth i bought last night and kinda "lunged" at him, if you will. He swam off though so no harm. the thing is he is a little larger than her and should i take him back they are both only like 2 inches long.
the thing is the tank cycled for a month and the severum IS the female

The Severum is a semi aggressive cichlid and there is a new kid on the patch.

You have to give things time to settle down, he will no doubt still be stressed from the move. They should get on.

Keep an eye on him, and see if he is bullying her some more. This could be just a slight warning, "Get out of my turf" sort of thing, your Severum might stop this as soon as he and she both settle into the tank. Make sure you have cycled your tank, so that the stress from the new water/unclean/uncycled water could not be the cause of this aggressiveness. You should remove either the male or the female, preferably the female, either return her, or get her a separate tank to herself.
