Yesterday, I bought a Black Moore Goldfish and Pearlscale goldfish from petco. I got them a 1 gallon tank that has a light and a filter. I filled it with rocks, 2 fake plants and a small castle decoration. I used tap water and put in Jungle Start Right Cholrine remover. After adjusting my fish to the water temperature for a few hours I let them in the tank and they seemed fine. When I went to bed I turned off the tank light. This morning I woke up to find both my fish dead. What could have caused their death?

1. one thing that could cause that death is if u put the water in the tank first you have to let it cycle atleast 24 hours.

2. another reason they could have died was because u dident wash the plants or u dident wash the plants well enough so the diseses will get off the plant

were the fake plant the size that they could eat it?
maybe they ate it and died.
im really sorry tho.

do you think the fish crashed into something and died?
could they crash into the castle?
THINK THINK THINK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The fish died because the ammonia levels in your tank sky rocketed. Goldfish are big waste producers and need a much bigger tank than a one gallon. One adult goldfish needs a 20 gallon tank, and then 10 gallons a goldfish after. So those fish need a 30 gallon tank. If you want a fish for that tank, I would suggest a paradise fish or betta, with paradise fish being better because it likes cooler water. Other fish options could be 2-3 white clouds or danios, but I would stick with the betta or paradise fish. For the fish to live in a 1 gallon bowl, you will need to twice weekly water changes of 50%. However, I would suggest getting a ten gallon tank, because the fish are more likely to live and they will be happier and less stressed. It also better for beginners.

Hope this helps!!!

Possibly high ammonia or nitrate levels. Fish give off ammonia as waste and they can't live with it. IDK though we are only just learning about this in our gifted class.
