I have a 10 gallon tank with 3 mollys 2 platies and (formally) 2 swordtails. One of my swordtails gave birth and got sick after that and died a few days later. I replaced her with two new swordtails on tuesday and one died yesterday (sunday) for no apparent reason. There was nothing physically wrong with her that we could tell unlike the 1st swordtail which had cotton mouth, etc. Any ideas what it could be?
As far as our water is concerned..from the strips we have been testing it with are nitrite levels are wayyyyyy 2 high and we can't get them down, and our water hardness is registering zero which I have read it not ideal for these types of which? Our pH, ammonia, and nitrate levels are all fine. What can we do?
Also, our molly has been pregnant since we got her about a month ago and she hasnt dropped yet. I am starting to think she is not pregnant and its like a tumor or something. Is this normal?

thanks!

Strips are notoriously bad. If you want something accurate then you need to spend 20 dollars on an API testing kit.

Did you cycle your aquarium before adding the fish? Do you condition the water every week when you do your water changes?

Did you treat the water after your one fish ended up having cotton mouth?
