i have an old 17" monitor for my computer and a crappy 21" tv. im thinking about buy a new 24" LCD such as the VW246H to be a replacement for both.

i would toss out my current tv and entertainment stand, move my desk from the side of the room to the middle and make that the new center for my home entertainment. (i have a tiny living room) I currently have a mid ranged 5.1 computer speaker setup that i would use for sound.

The question is, how well would this work? would my cable box work with a computer monitor ? is it possible to use a remote control turn the monitor on and off? is it possible to get the cable sound to come out of my computer speakers? Can i play my X-Box360 or my PS2 on a computer monitor? Can i get a blu-ray player with this? would i be better off with a blu-ray drive for the computer?

and lastly, for the price range, is there a better monitor i should get then the VW246H ?

Sorry if this is a flood of questions in just one post, i just want to make sure i do the rite thing and i don't know anyone else to ask. The retail stores near me have their sales people just saying "yes" to everything i say, no matter what.

Can i to work on this monitor? Yes! for sure!
Will it snuggle with me in bed and make breakfast in the morning? You bet!
the reason i wasn't going for an lcd tv was because all the ones i found in the 22-25 inch rage were only 720p, not 1080. 720 might be great for when i'm at the couch, but when i'm sitting up close doing computer stuff.... low res hurts the eyes. I definitely do not want dramatically lower resolution then i have rite now (1600x1200)

If you buy a 24" TV that has multiple inputs, meaning that both your computer and your cable box can plug into it, then you can use that. Most computer monitors don't double as TV screens too, meaning they usually have one or two inputs, usually designed for computer output only.
