my first complaint about cricKet's service

I just now found the down side of having cricKet. I was on my way to McAllen, TX and I had no service starting from either Rosenburg or Victoria.
You just don't really know what cell phone company to get these days...cricKet basically just works when you're in town (which is good because I rarely leave) and the rest of the companies are too expensive.
is cricKet planning to extend their service?

cricket's service is designed around limited local calling areas. that is how they are able to provide unlimted service for such a low price. cricket, at this time, has no plans to offer nation wide service. there is a (nation wide) travel plan available which has reasonable roaming rates (not unlimited), but it varies by area. see a local store for details about what is offered for your area.

if you need nationwide unlimited service, you can get a plan with ampd for 114 a month (129 with unlimited messaging), but they require a credit check and an 18 month contract. ampd uses Verizon's network so they have a pretty good coverage footprint.

cheap dirty and easy, get a virgin mobile phone. I have cricket for the in town stuff but when i do leave i have a virgin mobile slice phone for that. Slice is 50$ then grab a $20 card for it.

since u mentioned Rosenberg im guessing youre in Houston like me.
If youre in Houston, Cricket recently added Austin and San Antonio as part of the home calling area that includes areas like San Marcos and areas around there. Just go to mycricket.com and look at coverage map

59 cents a minute is not comparable to prepaid! Way to expensive! Any word on when the 60 dollar plan with 300 travel minutes plan will come out? That would get me to sign up.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8100/4.2.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

It's not 59 cents a minute! You can get 120 minutes for 15 a month! That's 12.5 cents a minute! Once you've used plan minutes up it's 39 cents a minute. Prepaid averages what, like 40 cents a minute or something?

No the prepaid min. on virgin mobile is just 18cents a min. Easy and texts are only 5cents to send and receive. Thats if you on the only when you use it plan, instead of something monthly.

I can't find anything like that, just travel time for 59 cents from your 5 dollar a month flex bucket. Got a link? My zip is 28217.

WooHOOOOO!!! We just got the 60 dollar plan in Charlotte! Who do you roam on when traveling and using the pool of 300 minutes? Verizon only? Can anyone help me set up an Alltel Audiovox CDM-8910 on Cricket Service?

jump won't help cause it will have the same area as cricket, but ampd might be good. 10 cents a minute incoming and outgoing with a national coverage area.

12.5 is still less than 18

the new travel time plans are not available in all areas, but everyone should now be on 39 cents instead of 59 cents i believe. the website may be outdated. check with a local cricket dealer, or call customer care, to see what's available to you.

holy **** really? i might start activating people with charlotte nurabers to give them that plan... lol actually i'm pretty sure cricket would get pissed at me for that.

39 cents is still too much. 12.5 would be good. I am suprised Cricket does not offer the 12.5 cent prices here since we also have Suncom. Suncom offers 59.99 for unlimited in all of NC & SC with 10 cent a minute roaming nationwide. Adders are 39.99, so you can get two unlimited lines for under 100 bucks. Cricket would be wise to offer 12.5 cents here. I like CDMA better than GSM. I guess I will hold off for Cricket to offer better prices here.

hmm looks like it's not available in that market. all they have is a $3 option and there's no explanation as to what that is in my system.

just re read the notice i got, and the new travel time mrcs are not available in charlotte greensboro or witchita. but the rate should be .39 a minute. hope they come out with a better option for you guys. cheers!
