My fiance and I just enlisted in the Army, should we marry before boot camp?

My fiance and I have been together for two years now. We decided, due to the economy and other factors, to join the Army. His MOS is 25F (Networking-Maintainer/Repairer) and mine is 68K (Medical Laboratory Specialist). We both leave in February for our BT and he goes for his AIT in Georgia for 23 weeks but I go to Texas for my AIT for 52 weeks...

If we get married now before boot camp, and file for join-spouse. Is it possible that if he gets assigned to his first base following AIT that when I finish mine they will send me to his? I only ask because I read the horror stories of those who waited until they were already on their first assignment to switch and had to wait between a year and two years. Figuring that my AIT is 30 weeks longer that instead of them sticking me elsewhere to begin with and having to worry about switching, that it's a possibility I'll just get assigned with (or near) him right off the bat? (I'm aware of the 100 mile away rule, I just don't want to be across country considering my job is rather versatile: IE: Every base has a hospital.) Please be considerate. Thank you.

If you are set on getting married, then it would be a better idea to do so sooner rather than later. The Army does not recognise relationships other than marriage so you have no status towards each other unless you are married. There is always a lead time to postings being available so the earlier you get your bid in to be together the more chance you will have of being posted to the same base. Good luck and have a wonderful life together and in your chosen careers!
