Ok, so I have had this laptop for a little over a year now. It's a Compaq-Presario V5000. It's not actualyl my laptop, it is my grandfather's but he only uses it for a little bit of work stuff. I do pretty much everything else on the laptop.
Well recently (within the past month) I have been trying to use some disc. Like cds and such...but, I can't. At first I couldn't figure out why. Now I have realised it is becuase my DVD/CD-ROM Drive has disappeared. I go to my computer, and the 2 hard drives are there, but my DVD/CD-ROM Drive is not longer.
Whenever I try to rip or burn a cd in Windows Media Player, it doesn't even recognize that the laptop has a DVD/CD-ROM Drive.
I have tried a system recovery, reinstalling the drive, and many other things. Nothing helps.
Does anyone know what the problem is?
