My dog hates the car! Help?

My one year old golden retriever x Dalmatian is scared of my car. She refuses to get in even with treats and praise. Once she is in the car, (we end up picking up the heavy dog) she seems rather happy to be driving. We try to help her associate the car with positive experiences, like going to an off-leash park with no luck. We have also tried with a step and ramps but she is still scared.
Please help me try to get my dog into the car
P.S. The car is a large station-wagon so she can gain access either through the tailgate (boot) or in the back door.

I think what you should do is if your dog is really close to you and does not like you to leave, than you should get in the car and pretend that you are about to leave your dog than it might want to get in with you and open the door and offer for your dog to get in and if your dog is still scared, than just be like, "ok well bye" and pretend to leave it again and mabey eventualy if you keep on doing this than your dog might eventuly get into the car and than you can continue on with your day!!!! I hope this helps :-)

Since you've already tried the usual things, I think it's time to call a dog behaviorist for help. Ask your vet for a referral if none are listed in your telephone directory.

well you have tried everything you should do to train an animal to stop being afraid of something. so i say maybe try to take her in the car on a regular basis to make her get used to it, but if that doesn't work or you have tried that im sorry i don't know what you should do then. my dog loves the car and always wants to go with us when we leave.
