My doctor told me to drink a glass of fruit juice at 630AM before surgery at 8AM.?

I am getting my four wisdom teeth out under general anastestic. I met with the doctor who will give me the general anastestic and he told me that at 630 am that I MUST drink a glass of fruit juice, my surgery is at 830am. I find this very strange, since normally everyone is told to fast before an operation. Does anyone have any opinions on this?
